new website today. The site which has long been overdue is now up
and running. Current issues will be added regularly with the
objective of providing a valuable source of information for
the plant engineering and construction industry. |

Dr. Kölbl gave a speech in Munich on combining different codes and standards in the
design of pressure vessels. Special focus was placed on the compatibility of
differing safety requirements and the resulting challenges. |

The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel
Committee took action to eliminate code case expiration dates, effective
March 11, 2005. This means that all code cases currently published in
Supplement 3 and beyond will remain available for use until annulled by the
ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Standards Committee.
Code cases will be routinely reviewed for possible incorporation
into the body of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code

Change of Shareholder at ONE/TÜV/BV
After 19 years successful
collaboration with the American industrial insurer Factory Mutual
Insurance Company, co-shareholder of the joint venture FM/TÜV/BV, RWTÜV
and Bureau Veritas are realigning their strategic partnership in the
field of the ASME Boiler und Pressure Vessel Code. Factory Mutual now
intends to concentrate on its insurance business and will no longer
offer its services as Authorized Inspection Agency .
As from September 1,
2003, OneBeacon America Insurance Company will be the new shareholder of
the renamed joint venture, One TÜV BV Technische Inspektions GmbH.
OneBeacon, well known in
international plant engineering under its former name of Commercial
Union, is a major provider of ASME Code services as an Authorized
Inspection Agency in the USA and Mexico. OneBeacon is now interested in
offering its customers services world-wide, OneBeacon, RWTÜV, Bureau
Veritas and One TÜV BV will therefore complement one another perfectly
on the international scene.
Horst Michael, the joint venture's Managing
Director, is confident that OneBeacon will provide fresh impetus in
terms of quality and growth. |
