I have a question about mismatched alignments for Section VIII Div 1 calculations.

UW-33(a) shows what maximum allowable offsets may be in Table UW-33. If I have an actual offset less than the maximum allowable offset…..do I still have to have the minimum 3:1 taper as it specifies in UW-33(b)???

Or do you exempt out of the minimum 3:1 taper because of being under the maximum allowable offset??? Is this written right???

YES. You still have to have the minimum 3.1 taper as per UW-33(b)

These two requirements are independent.
