Hi all,
have someone experience with SA-307B bolts?
I have the following problem: ASME has no skirt calc. so I use AD S3/1. Normaly I look at Sec. II Part D for the yield strength at table Y-... and use the safety factor acc. AD 2000 (s=2.2 for bolts). BUT...
I can't find a value for SA-307B. The metric Sec. II Part D give only:
Allowable stress: 48.3 MPa (yes it's not rounded) and tensile strength: 414 MPa.
I looked at Table 2-100(b) (Sec. II Part D, App.2) and found two options:
1. yield strength = 3/2*allowable stress 2. yield strength = 4*allowable stress (bolts are at room temperature)
The option 2 is for "enhanced by heat treatment or strain hardening,..."
Use ASME option 1 or 2 for the SA-307B? Any other source where I can look?
The differences are big! Sy1=72.5 => SAD1=72.5:2.2=33MPa
and Sy2=193.2 => SAD2=193.2:2.2=87.8MPa
To use the safety of ASME (SASME=48.3MPa) is a compromise but I think it is not correct from the AD 2000 viewpoint, think at AD B0.
Many thanks
Frank
