Dear all,

can someone help me to understand which are the main differences between the AUSTRALIAN CODE AS 1210 and ASME Code?
Can the Equipment designed and manufactured per ASME Code be in compliance also with AS1210 Code??

Is the ASME Code acceptable i lieu of AS 1210??

Which of these two Codes gives huge thicknesses??

What about the certification of TPA ? If the Equipment are ASME Code stamped, is this enought to avoid the approval of an additional australian TPA??

Many thanks in advance for your kind attention and help.

GENGI

Some differences are:
AS1210 shell thickness = P(D+2C)/(2fn-P)+C
AS1210 Hydrotest pressure is always 1.5 times DP.
Impact requirements are quite different.
Normalising requirements also different.
AS1210 allows use of AS1548 materials.

Don't know what "TPA" is.
Independent design verification (ref relevant state authority) is required. Registration of vessel with relevant state authority is also required.

Gengi,

your question is funny, it is a bit like asking what is the better car, Mercedes or BMW.

ASME VIII and AS 1210 are different Codes, DIFFERENT. The question which Code is acceptable, shall be discussed with the local authorities.

Hi,

Anyone can help me.

The design pressure of a vessel is 300 bar. I have some experience with DiV.II while the client asked for AS 1210! Anyone knows the spcial requirements of AS 1210? I know about Div.II (additional requirements.. and PE as well). But nothing about 1210!! Is it similar??

Regards,

I have such experience about exporting a pressure vessel to Australia. the equipment with "u" stamp was fabricated according ASME VIII-1 and AS1210. I remembered the most different is hydro. test and data report according AS1210. then found an agency in Australia review design document and get certification. So, I think if you haven't any idea about that , you can consult with your AI who have such work experience.
