I use an 9%Ni steel plate (SA-353) with an temperature limit of 121°C. For the same grade and spec. you find tensile strength values at 150°C in table U. Is the value - at 150°C given - just for interpolation reasons?

What is this table actually used for? And where is the reference in VIII/1 to this?

Thanks upfront for help.

O.K

O.K.

You need to go the other way round when using the Code.

Always first use the Code of Contruction, which is Section VIII Div. 1 for example. UG-23 will guide you to UHA-23 Table and to Section II Part D, Table 1A for determining the stress value.
For most users, there is no reason to go to Table U, why would you want to?

With respect to following the temperature limits, if a maximum temperature is given in Table 1A, it is binding. Any stress value given at higher temperatures is only for interpolation. I advise to read the text "STATEMENT OF POLICY ON INFORMATION
PROVIDED IN THE STRESS TABLES" on page 1, and all applicable footnotes.
