Hi all,

We are applying the ASME "U" certificate and will have ASME review in couple of days. Could you please give me some suggestions? Like, what are the questions they will ask, and what are the best answers. What are the points they might look at? What is your experience and lessons.....
Please, take a moment to help me out. I have had all the paper work done. I am very nervous about the questions they may ask? Thank you all in advance, you advices will be highly appreciated.

Kindest regards

Jeff

No questions with the scope of verifying your competency. You have to present your demo item constructed following Code and your QC Manual. It is important you know your manual. Stay calm, questions may be placed to understand what and how you are doing your activities. Answer to questions and no more, don't volunteer. If you are asked a WPQ for a welder give that only, not the whole book. Same applies to all documents. Keep somebody else beside you to provide documents which are not readily available. Don't leave the Team Leader alone. Don't be scared, he will not judge you but the QC system of your Company. The Management shall be involved in the introduction meeting and show they are interested in ASME and support you.
Good luck.
Mauro

Thank you soooooo much Mauro,

I really appreciate your reply. I am very nervous if they ask too much questions about my knowledges regarding code. I mean I did have 3 years experience related to vessel making, still I can't learn and remember all the items. Thank you again.

Have a wonderful day

Jeff

You have to present your QC Manual and Design Calculation for the first day of joint review.
The questions are come out from your QC Manual itself and knowledge of Code is necessary. Not to worry because if you understand all of your QC Manual you can answer all the questions that they may ask.
Make sure you do the system exactly follow the QC Manual.
They ask the question based on your QC Manual, you have not to worry if you have a fewer knowledge regarding Code.

The important thing is to demonstrate your vessel on the 2nd day.Make sure your fabrication based on drawing&QC Manual..
The most important is how you Control the Consumable, Original Marking, Heat Number and Heat Number Traceability, Welding.

Ok Good Luck.

Thank you Akim,

Sorry to say I was busy for preparing paper works, I didn't say thanks to you earlier. Our reviews was completed yesterday. We finally passed. The Team leader was a famous picky one. We changed every single page of my Manual. Thanks to God, it is over.

Thank you and Mauro so much for your suggestions.

All the best

Jeff

Hi,

It would be very helpful if you read The National Board Guide which may be downloaded free at http://www.nationalboard.org/SiteDocume ... 7rev11.pdf. May be, too late?

Good Luck.
