Hi,

Appreciate inputs from experts in this forum

ASME Sec. VIII Div2 AG-301.2 :Certification of user's Specification states that a PE registered in one or more of the states of the united States of America or province of Canada shall certify to the compliance of user's design specs

Is this rule applicable if the pv is manufactured in Korea?. if yes, that means a PE from USA/Canada should certify it. Is it possible to get a locally(place where it is manufactured) PE for the certification.

I have a pv designed to the above code. it is a U stamp coded vessel and design certified by AI. If the above requirement is applicable, then there are 2 parties doing the same thing which is a waste. Can someone pls shed some light on this?

Best regards,
roman

Roman,

I have teh image you are mixing something: U and U2 stamp!

there is Section VIII Div 1, which requires the U-stamp.
In this Code UG-90 requires the AI to review the design calculation.
In VIII-1 there is no RPE required.

there is Section VIII Div. 2, which requires the U2-stamp.
In this Code the design is much more complicated. The User shall issue a Design Specification, which requires certification by an RPE. The manufacturer shall issue a Design Report, including all the drawings and calcs. The DR shall also be certified by an RPE.
The AI will only review the drawings and verify the UDSpec and DR are available and properly certified, and the vessel is built to the drawing.

If you need an RPE, there are some individuals in various contries.

I hope you see some light now?

Dirk
