As per ASME Sect VIII Div.2 Part 3 clause 3.2.2.1, “materials for non-pressure parts which are welded to pressure part shall meet all the requirements of paragraph 3.2.1”

I have a stock material, bought without stated a specific requirement as per Div.2 and plan to use for non pressure part (attached to pressure part) like skirt, lifting gusset and etc. Could I use this material by re-certificate according to Div.2 and kindly advice.

One more thing, how to re-certificate according Div.2

the material welded to the pressure boundary shall meet Section VIII Div. 2 requirements.
Some Section II Materials do not have additional Section VIII Div. 2 requirements, they can be used as is. Normal MTR to Section II is sufficient to meet 3.2.6.1.

Re-certification is addressed in 3.2.6.2. Your AI should be involved rather early.
Experience has shown that in many cases warehouses are not re-certifying correctly. Caution is advised.
