I am basically a design engineer but at learning stage....
I have got a problem... my company is going to renew its U and S certifications.... So i have to perform its manual calculation works.... I have done calculations as per ASME Section VIII Div 1 2010 ed., but our AI is asking for ASME Section I calculations as well.
and I have not ever work on ASME Section I. So, can any body help me and send me a sample calculations.

Hi Rizwan

ASME does not require design calculations for both Section VIII Div.1 and Section I for renewal Joint Review of the U and S certifications. You only need to provide calculations for one of them.

I agree with bcguy.
You need to perform the design in accordance with most stringent code, Section VIII-1 is believed be more stringent as compared to Section I. I have confirmed my opinion from our AI too that Section VIII-1 is believed be more stringent than Section I.

Our AI is not agreed with us... he has still the same point of view that ASME inspector MAY ask about section 1 cals... you will be at your own risk.... my boss who don't know design....don't want any risk and is forcing my to make section 1 cals.... So, I need your help... please send me a sample of section 1 cals. if you have or advise me how to do these cals in an easy way.....
