Dear members

I have one vessel I.D=600mm with one handhole at the bottom of shell, our AI from ABS comment that one handhole or one pipe plug shall be in each head or in the shell near each head as per UG-46(f)4. This requirement is mandatory or not? and what function handhole shall be in each head.

Anyone can clarify to me?

Thank you.

Dear Faizol (PV-elite user)

It's time to become the Code Book elite user, and simply read what is there, black on white. Read when the inspection openings are required, and when they may be ommited. And the requirements are simple, there's nothing to discuss!

AI is right and you need to provide 2" coupling near the circular seam. Code clause is very clear. Also you need to mention ID of coupling while specifying in MDR.
