What does "Material Identified to a Particular Production Lot as Required by a Specification Permittid by This Division" mean ?

I don't see anything about production lot in SA-414 ?

We have material Corus E-240 in coil and we will cut to sheets and recertify to SA_414 gr. B, take test specimens for 10% and make tensile tests and chemical analyzes acc. to SA-414,SA-370,SA-751.

Have anyone tried recertification of non ASTM/SA materials with success - and how was it done ?

Do we have to witness the cutting to verify the lot ?

"Material Identified to a Particular Production
Lot as Required by a Specification Permittid by This
Division" means for example the heat treatment lot
mentioned in SA-182, or a bundle of tubes, or a box of bolts.
SA-414 is a plate specification, and the lot equals to the SLAB as rolled, refer to 5.1.2. In my opinion this is not applicable, since a coil is one piece and you can run a product testing on the coil. Scope of test should be as required in the specification, ref. 5.1.3.1.

Recertification is a common solution to material supply problems, it works, but is time consuming and risky. If some requirement is not met, it is over. It is important to fulfill all of the material specification requirements, including steelmaking, desoxidation, etc. Verification by the Authorized Inspector of the pressure vessel is mandatory.

If your particular case works, can only be evaluated with all the documents.
