Hi,
I have conducted an Audit and found Material SA-182 with a CMTR from a QSC Certificate holder.
The material is actually rolled BAR material, which is clearly stated on the Source Material certificate. The QSC company has purchased the bar, cut it into slices and sold it as discs SA-182 F 22 Cl 3 diameter 300mm and length 100mm The CMTR certificate is saying that the material is machined from larger bar stock material.
My rationale for not accepting is: The material is purchased as SA-182 forgings diameter 300mm length 100mm. According to SA-182 para. 4 and 5.4 it is required to forge as close as practicable to the specified shape and size.
Using BAR source material without reheating and forging is only permitted for small cylindrical items NPS 4 and less, which we do not have in this case.
In my opinion the material is not certified correctly. Metallurgists are supporting my view, a bar is a bar and a forging is a forging.
does anybody know a way to accept this material, as I do not really like to scrap items?
