Suppose a NPP wants replacement of Pipe fitting. It requires to have Class1 fitting. I can purchase it from a pipe fitting supplier having NPT certificate. This is simple.
Now suppose the supplier i have chosen is good quality pipe fitting manufacturer but he has no certification from ASME, because his main field is petrochemical. He has API , ISO & BSI stamps. Now can i use its fittings ( 2 Nom. Sch. 80 Socket welded Coupling, ASTM A-105). Can any one guide me in this regards. I have read Section IX, Division I, IWA-4000 but still confused.

Moiz,

you can also purchase from a company holding a QSC Certificate, an ASME Certified Matieral Organisation.

The fitting looks like non-welded forging, and as such it is considered material. It shall be certified ba the Material Organisation with a CMTR according to Section III NCA-3860 and it shall be tested and examined according to SA-105 plus the NB-2500 requirements from Section III. This makes a very big difference to a usual standard fitting, as full volumatric and surface examination is required.

It is important to purchase to the edition and addenda of the original fitting.
