There is a WPS prepared for combined procedure, for example GTAW+SAMW, can this WPS be used for the joint which single process applied, for example GTAW,
To my understanding, WPS is a procedure document used to provide direction to welder, so different WPS shall be prepared for different joint out of the qualification range.
however, Section IX does not provide any provisions about this.

Hi,

Code:
QW-200.1:
(a) Welding Procedure Specification (WPS).
A WPS is a written qualified welding procedure prepared to provide
direction for making production welds to Code requirements. The WPS or other documents may be used to provide
direction to the welder or welding operator to assure compliance with the Code requirements

acc. to the definition above and with reference to QW-200.2(f) (Multiple WPSs With One PQR/Multiple PQRs With One WPS) I agree that for the single process a separate WPS shall be prepared.

thanks for your reply, but people from manufacturer said team leader (joint review) suggested preparing combined WPS for separate process.

As per QW-200.4a(3rd para) and sl.no 1&2 2007 eddition it is allowed.ie we can qualify a WPS with a combination process(for example GTAW root weld + SMAW fill up) and can be used for welding of material with above proces individualy. It means we can weld the material by using GTAW proces alone and weld the material by using SMAW alone.

conditions are applied as mentioned in above sl.no 1&2.

hope it is clear.Still if any clarification pl ask.

yes, but if we use combination WPS,Combinations of these processes, a PQR for a process
recording a test coupon that was at least 1⁄2 in. (13 mm)
thick
