Hello,

I have another question concerning combination of PQRs.

There are two following PQRs ( both impact tested ):

PQR1: GMAW+SMAW on T=5.54 mm, GMAW t=3.5 mm, SMAW t=2.04 mm
PQR2: GTAW+SMAW+SAW on T=12 mm, GTAW t=3 mm, SMAW t=5 mm, SAW t=4 mm.

Is following WPS based on PQR1 & PQR2 correct?

WPS: GMAW+SMAW with qualified T=5.54 to 17 mm ( 3.5*2 + 5*2 ).

Thank you in advance for your advice.

T=base metal thk
t= weld metal thk
WPS: GMAW+SMAW with qualified T=5.54 to 24 mm; t GMAW 7 max ( 3.5*2); t SMAW 10 max (5*2)
It means you may weld with a total t of 17 mm material which may be thk 24 (it happens, why not? e.g. a groove of 17 mm in a plate of 24 mm)

What is your fabrication code ?
As soon as impacts come into play ASME IX requirements are overridden by your fabrication code,
