We have a number of pressure vessels incorporated into portable air compressor packages that could travel to any US (or international) jurisdiction . The pressure vessels are CRN registered, but not "U" stamped. Will US jurisdictions accept pressure vessels with CRN registration in lieu of a "U" stamp?

Because the equipment is mobile equipment, it is impossible to seek clarification form any one specific jurisdiction.

Any guidance on this issue would be appreciated

I do not believe the CRN (in lieu of U stamp) will satisfy most Jurisdictions in the US. The best way to find out is to ask each one individually.

If the vessel is on a public road way in the US, the Jurisdiction (State) can not regulate these vessels, but rather Federal DOT or the State DOT does (or is supposed to). If the vessel in on a commercial property and it's portable and is being used for service at that facility, then the State or Jurisdictional rules governing Boilers and Pressure Vessels will govern, regardless if it is mobile or not. I do know that the DOT regulates milk tankers and propane tanks and they are all built to ASME Section VIII Div-1 (or ASME Section XII as applicable) with specific DOT regulations.

You will certainly have to consult with each and every Jurisdiction (DOT and Boiler and Pressure Vessel Rules) where the vessel may be operated for their individual input.
