Dear all,
I have one doubt in designing jacket thickness for biopharma industry.design pressure of both process vessel and jacket is 3.5 bar/FV,for external pressure calculation,how much will be the external design pressure.Is it 1.1 bar or 4.5 bar (3.5+1).

The Code says that, provided there is no maximum permitted differential pressure specified, the common elements of the two chambers shall be designed for the worst conditions. in this case 4,513 bar in either direction.

The parts not jacketed, of course will be designed only for the 3,5 bar internal and 1,013 bar external pressure.

And do not forget the other loadings per UG-22.
