Hi Gents,

The company I work for is gonna be doing a weld overlay on a SA-350-LF2 material (P1) using a FCAW process. It is a part of an ASME VIII Pressure Vessel we are manufacturing.
The qualified Overlay WPS that we currently have uses the electrode E308LT-2. However, i just found out that this filler was deleted from the 2010 edition ASME Sect. II Part C due to certain reasons.
I remember being told about being able to legally switch to another electrode for production as long as its the same A number or something.

Could anybody please shed a light on this matter?

(ps. the WPS was qualified back in 1998. We don't mind developing a new fcaw overlay procedure but we don't have enough time to wait for a new procedure to be qualified)

jezthevalley,
ASME QW 255.1 has two different overlays - Hardfacing and Corrosion Resistant.
Presume you are the corrosion resistant overlay.
QW 404.37 lists change in A number as an essential variable,
Regards,
BB
