Inquiry: In order to allow time for the transition to
the mandatory rules in Appendix 2-14, may alternatives
be used for the design of flange rigidity, in lieu of the
rules in Appendix 2-14 of Section VIII, Division 1?

The Code Case referenced above allows the use of other design rules in lieu of the flange rigidity calculation mandatory since Addenda 05.

Before dancing on the table, the designers should purchase the case, review and follow all the requirements given. The Case number shall be referenced on the design calculation, drawing and Data Report.
