Dear all,

We have 3-BKU exchangers , the vendor already purchased the material with 2.1mm thk 19.05mm OD tubes, However the client specification specify 2.1mm as minimum wall thickness, would the fabricator require to consider for the "tube wall reduction" during bending.

How to determine the tube wall reduction thickness thru Calculation, any Formula stated on codes or standards.

Thanks,
Gilbert

Gilbert,

Heat exchanger tubes are specified with either minimum wall thickness or average wall thickness for the straight tube only. Any thickness reduction due to bending is required to be accounted for as per the applicable code.

TEMA gives a formula to calculate reducion in tube wall due to bending (do not remember the section) and can be follwed.

Regards

Please refer section RCB 2.31 of TEMA for minimum tube thickness before bending.
