Dear Friends,

I do apologize for writng such a length message but this was the best wasy I could describe on housings.

I am trying to understand on desing and manufacture of "housings".

Key area I am looking for is the design for
1) Filter housings
2) Single/ multiple round housings
3) Trace heated housings.

I wanted to know if you can give me advice on :-

- What ASME code do I need to follow to design 'Housings- 1,2 &3'
I know ASME code sec VIII talks on PV is it the same for housing ?

- Is there any 'good design handbook on housing' which can talk me
through the whole process of designing.

Thanks and Regards
materialboy

Filter housing are to be considered as Pressure Vessels and can be designed with any of the PV design code including ASME Sec VIII.

Do not understand what do you mean by single/ multiple round housing.

Heat tracing can be provided on the the pressure vessel/ filter housing. Heat tracing can be provided with either half coil or with tubing (for heating media such as hot oil or steam) or with electrical tracing.

Hope this clarifies.

Thanks Sanjeev :-)

Apologies for the late reply and tanks for your advice.

Yes it does clarified- anyways on Trace Heated Housing- Is there any good design book that explains me the procedure of providing tubing and also follows ASME code to design them.

Your Ideas are welcomed

Housing is simply designed with PV design code. Tubing is however not to be designed with same ASME/ PV code.

Tubing/ piping can be designed with piping design code. This tubing can be fixed up on PV/ housing by various means such as tack welding etc.

In case of half/ limpet coil , housing and the coil is to be designed with ASME considering pressure of fluid in the limpet coil.
