Dear friends,

I am having a cladded vessel in which base material is CS & cladding plate is of SS. Now the vessel requires PWHT as the base material thickness is more than 38 mm.

My question is how to do the PWHT as its range starts from 595 degree Celsius as per UCS-56, while SS material will undergo sensitization in the range of 425 – 870 degree Celsius?

How to avoid the sensitization effect?

Don't worry about that. it is not your responsibility. Material will be sensitized but still has the resistance to corrosion required for the service. Otherwise the engineering would have specified another austenitic steel "richer" in Cr. and Ni.
