i want to use 35mm thick plate of SA-36 for some application in ASME VIII-1. UCS-66 do not excempt it from impact test because the min. service temperature is less than impact test exemption temperature obtained from FIG. UCS-66 or table UCS-66 (i.e 29 deg. C). pls answer me

what will be the impact energy requirement if i ask the material manufacturer to impact test at say 15 deg. C

what will be the impact energy requirement if i ask the material manufacturer to impact test at 0 deg. C

The impact test requirement is not a function of the test temperature. Regardless to the test temperature impact test requirements are a function of yield strength and material thickness.

SA-36 has a tensile strength of 400-550 MPa and therefore UG-84(c)(4) is applicable. This paragraph referenced to FIG UG-84.1. You get here the impact test requirements.

First, please check if you are in compliance with UCS-6(b): “Steel plates to SA-36 … may be used, if …the thickness of plates on which strength welding is applied does not exceed 5/8 in. (16mm.)”

It looks like, that per UG-84(b)(2) and Table UG-84.4, the impact test temperature for SA-36 can be 6 C warmer than your MDMT.
Per FIG. UG-84.1M, the minimum Cv for 35 mm SA-36 is 20J.

This is just a quick comment on my side with no obligations; you have to research the Code requirements yourself.
