Fred, read QW 101. If the process is not listed in the governing section or listed in section IX, I do not think you are going to be able to use them.

thanks,Jim,
but, see below quotation:
QW-101 Scope
The rules in this Section apply to the preparation of
Welding Procedure Specifications and the qualification of
welding procedures, welders, and welding operators for all
types of manual and machine welding processes permitted
in this Section. These rules may also be applied, insofar
as they are applicable, to other manual or machine welding
processes permitted in other Sections.

UW-27
(2) other than arc welding processes: electron beam,
flash, electroslag, explosive, induction, inertia and continuous
drive friction, laser beam, oxyfuel gas, resistance,
and thermit.

covered in SEC VIII-1,not covered in Sec.IX,

Fred,

If I understand you correctly, the manufactuer is fabricating tubes from coiled strip material by induction welding.
This would be kind of material manufacturing.

However, the vessel manufacturer shall apply Section VIII.1 to his production.
To me this sounds like a perfect case for U-2(g).
either the Manufacturer uses the rules from a SA-Spec for tubes, or he makes his own rules, subject to the AI's acceptance.
