Location: DESCON Engineering Limited, Pakistan
shall the welding seam joining the shell & hemispherical dish end be considered as a longitudinal seam in Section I construction ?
I am asking this question because Section VIII Division 1 takes it to longitudinal seam (Category A joint as per UW-3 & Fig.UW-3) ?

Yes. Although Codes are different the basic rule for calculation of cylindrical shell and hemispherical head are the same.
