Hello,

We are Manufacturers of Pressure parts and we are currently holding S Stamp. Now a customer has approached us for the manufacture of pressure parts. Design and major raw materials are in customer scope, in our scope there are some attachment raw materials and manufacturing. Customer is asking us to code stamp the components Wether we can take up the same.

KIndly reply.

Briefly:
Your Customer probably is an Enginnering Co. and has no S Stamp (Engineering could have, for engineering only) and designs the complete boiler. You have in the scope of your certificate design as well. You should be able to verify the design of your client for conformity to Sect I, whilst your Customer has the experience of the thermodinamic design. The Engineering wants also to buy material for you.
Mind that you have the full responsibility for Code compliance of the complete boiler, including external piping, safety valves, and material. Assembly may be done by Assembler holding A or S stamp maybe or maybe not under your responsibility.
Contact your Agency.

Mohanarengan,

I agree with Gonzaga.
Just let me add, the Code might permit you to stamp the complete boiler, but is your company prepared for this?

You need to review all calculations, and aprove them as your responsibility, please refer to your QCmanual, Design Chapter.

Your AI must perform his Design Review as well. Talk to him, what his questions are.

And you are responsible for the assembly as well. including the complete boiler hydrotest. Even if assembly is done by somebody else, you are still responsible to specify and control the field assembly.

Certainly your sales guys should make a new offer. This scenario happens frequently. Sometimes I have the feeling that some Engrg companies just look for a cheap stamp.
