Hello.

What is the meaning of "doubly curved shells" mentioned in UG-36 (c)(3)(d)?

Thanks a lot.

Dear Mr.Sarjeel

Kindly refer to theory of shells where two curvatures rho1 and rho2 are used. (simple derivation in Pressure vessel design by John F Harvey or any other book)

In UG-36 (c)(3)(d), the code refers to cylinders and cones at first (cylinder or cone has only one curvature and other is infinity- straight line);

Example of doubly curved shells are hemispherical, ellipsoidal or torus- because they have two finite radii of curvature.

Did I make it clear?

With regards

Dear Sarjeel

To add "Double curved" means those parts under fabrication which furnished with double curvature (curvature in two directions) such as Hemispherical Heads, Spherical Shells, Ellipsoidal Heads and Torisph.
