Dear Sirs,

What could be the minimum Angel for joining two plates of same thickness i.e. circumferential & longitudinal joint of pressure vessel?

Normaly as a general practice we are using 60 degree angel for single V butt joint. But is this angel can be 30 or 20 to minimize the weld deposition & hence the heat input?

Please reply, as I am lack of welding knowledge & also provide me the reference where I can find much on welding.

This is not mandaory by code, it needs to be decided by fabricator's welding engineer to produce a sound weld based on aplicable process, accessibility, thickness etc.

AWS welding Handbook can be reffered to
