Minimum shell width in ASME

Hi All,

Is there any requirement in ASME mention the minimum shell width to joint between two shell. For long seam it mention in UW-9(d) but for circ seam?

Appreciate any help on this puzzle.

Khairul,

There is no limitation on shell width in Section VIII-1.
As you see UW-9, it says that longitudinal joints across the circ seam shall be stagerred unless 100 mm length of long seams (on both side of circ seam) are radiographed.
