Dear All!
Vessel is designed in accordance with ASME VIII-1. Nozzle flange is made of SA-105 mat. with dimensions in accordance with ANSI B16.5 (8"-150lbs). There is spiral wound in accordance with ANSI B16.20, bolt are also in accordance with ANSI, material SA-193GrB7.

The question is do we need to verify geometry of standard nozzle flange in accordance with App. 2?

Any suggestions welcome.
Regards,
malyl

Malyl,

Standard flanges to ASME B 16.5 need not be designed as per Appendix 2. If try to do analysis, in most of the cases it will fail.

Is there any clear statement in ASME or ANSI that there is no requirement for calculation of standard ANSI flange?

regards,

Please refer UG 44 which allow use of B16.5 flanges.
