Respected Members,

Sir,can any one explain the rules and criterian for the Nozzle orientation and elevation in the pressure vessels when design on ASME SEC.VIII DIV.1.Is there any reference in the code .How we can decide the elevation and orientation of Nozzles in pressure vessels?
Thanks

The elevation of nozzle is determined by the nozzle project, when we create one opening in the shell or head, you can suppost the elevation and oritation. but the following requirements should be met:
1.requirements of ASME SEC.VIII DIV.1UG-36 to UG-53.
2.DN≤25mm,and the Projection length(exclusive of flange) is more than 150mm
or DN=32~50, the Projection length (exclusive of flange) is more than 200mm
the nozzle should be reinforced.
about the oritation, in my oponion, should be determined by instrument and processing engineer.
