Dear all,

can anybody explain what it means the below sentence from QW-420?

"......provided the WPS is revised to limit the materials qualified for welding to those assigned to the new P- or S-number(s) and Group number(s) for the specific material(s) originally used for the procedure qualification test coupon. ...."

I urgently need the correct answer to do my QC work, thanks for your helps!

Allen

Hello, raghurambathula,

Please let me question like below:

Provided:

Material A,B, C and D are assigned to P-no. X, in Section IX 2007, and I coducted then a PQR test useing material A. So, according to Section IX 2007, material B, C and D can be covered by this PQR.

But in 2010 edition, material A was reassigned to P-no.Y (including material E F G).

Question:

If I continue to use that PQR, which was tested in 2007, according to 2010 edition (QW420 states this use is allowed), which P-number above can be covered? P-no. X, Materials B,C and D, or P-no. Y, materials E,F and G?

Thank you!

WPS be revised or a new WPS be written to identify the new P-number, Based upon the original PQR, the WPS is qualified only for joining materials assigned to P-No.Y under the current Section IX rules.
also refer Interpretation: IX-07-18
