I've been told that there are more than one way to pipe expansion tanks in a Hydronic System.

For example, I've been taught-and teach, that in a hydronic heating system where the pumps have been duplexed (for obvious reasons), you should connect the tank on the suction side of the pump(s), using a "thermo-drop" to prevent the travel of heat to the bladder, with a drain on the low end, and an air vent on the high end-also for obvious reasons.

This is the location at which pressure is at its lowest point in a hydronic system.

My question is; Is there another spot that works equally as well, without any negative effects?

Any explanation would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your time!
