Mr. abc,
You can roll the plates after welding,However after rolling the shell shall meet UG80 requirements. In your instance shell will be having more than one long seams . As per ASME SEC VIII Div 1 you can have more than one seam for a shell course.

Refer Interpretation
Interpretation: VIII-1-89-195
Subject: Section VIII, Division 1 (1989 Edition), UW-9(d)
Date Issued: May 21, 1990
File: BC90-400

Question: Do the requirements of Section VIII, Division 1 set a limit on the number of longitudinal seams permitted in a single shell or course?

Reply: No.

ABC,

grinding is not required, but the tolerance of UG-80 for out-of-roundness will be difficult to meet with a real humpy weld.

Mr. ABC,
You can do it , as you are aware the purpose of capping is only to ensure that the groove is completely filled and it doesnot serve any strength to the weld, ie why code mention only maximum value for the reinforcement .
Refer UW 34(d).

Hope the matter is clear

Mr ABC
You can do the inside flush grinding of capping to facilitate the easy movement of plate in the roller during forming. However flush grinding shall not reduce the thickness required as per drawing.
