About PMA (Particular Material Appraisals),
I have SA516 Gr.60 for a Pressure Vessel designed according to VSR (Italian code) and I have to do the PMA.
For allowable stress, may I use the values obtained from Hot Tensile Tests made at design temperature ( Rp(0.2)/t ) specifically for THAT plate and THAT heat, instead of the tabulated values of ASME IID ?

many thanks

Salicchi,

This depends on the design Code details, on the design conditions like temperature and the entire design approach.
The PMA shall fit into the entire concept and prove that the actual material is safe for the use in the particular application. The proof can be made on a generic approach, or on a single case analysis.
I suggest to develop a concept and contact the Notified Body for acceptance.
