Dear all,

I have a stupid question about vessel designing. Can anybody here tell me where did you learn the vessel designing. I have mechanical designing back ground, and have years of QA experience. There is no vessel designer here in this company. I want to gain more responsibility. Please provide your suggestion. Thank you.

Jeff

Jeff,

Better it is to start from some basic books.
Mgeyse and Moss are good choices.

Thank you Javed,

You mean I learn it by myself? I want to take some courses here in Universities, Colleges or training schools. Do you think it's possible or not? If so, what is the major would be. Did you all learn the design by yourselves? I have the handbook by Megyesy. Still I am hoping to learn the designing systematically. Thanks.

Best wishes

Jeff

Jeff,

To learn something you must have questions about that, question will come to your mind when you start working on the design both practically and theoratically.
I learned from my seniors, books, trainings, all of you forum members but besides of all these, you should have worked as a design engineer that is a must. Learning phase never ends.
May you succeed in your goals and ambitions, my all good wishes are with you. It is my pleasure if I could be of any help for you in designing of vessels in the capacity what I have.

Thank you Javed,

I have some wishes to you and your family during this holiday season. I did start learning something myself. And, I do have lots of questions, no one in this company has answer, that's why I want to join a course. What is the mentioned "Mgeyse and Moss"? and what kind of books you can suggest and where to get it. Thanks again.

Have a nice day

Jeff

Jeff,

The books written by Moss and Megyse discuss and explain a little with numerical examples the design of shells, heads, nozzles, supports, body flanges, blind flanges, some good engineering pratices etc.
You may download all these books free of cost from
www.4shared.com

One thing always keep remember, all these helping books can never be alternate to code study.

jeff,

I can offer you the assistance the following way.
if you have a lot of questions as you mentioned, if the questions are too small and too basic to be put on this forum, you may put to me on my personel adress
Jilani_Engineering@Yahoo.com
If I could not answer to your question then I would advise to put that question on the forum.
