Dear All,

While designing a column in Pvelite i find the following detail to be filled-

1.Tray weight per unit area
2.Support ring and bolting bar weight
3.Height of liquid on tray

In process data sheet i didn't find the above detail.

IS there any book, standard or GEP to find these information?
Kindly provide me the same.

Thanking in advance,

Mihir Jha

Mihir Jha,

The parameters you wanted will not be specified in the PDS. Look for some guideline in the project specification or the CONTRACTOR specification which gives design values.

Kindly provide me the same.

Mihir,

As Jehan has already mentioned, these informations are not specified in PDS and/ or specification. PDS/ Specifications may only specify minimum required thickness for trays and support rings and also specify type of internals required. These data has to be verified based on internal vendor design.

You can assume some value based on previous experience in similar service/ design conditions or contact some internal supplier for preliminary details.

Trays are generally made of thin (2-3 mm) Alloy Steels and support rings may be of same thickness as of shell (if shell is not very thick). Weight of liquid can be considered based on the height of riser of the tray (may be 75- 100 mm)

You can make some weight assumption and use in your calculation till the time you get a firm data after placement of order.

Try for help in PV Elite also, they might have included some guideline to estimate tray weight.

Regards

it would be good to consult your superiors to determine the numerical value.

in my case i considered the tray parameters asked by you equal to the same value as the live load which is typically 120-150 kg/m2. This single value takes care of the following:

1.Tray weight per unit area
2.Support ring and bolting bar weight
3.Height of liquid on tray
