For Low alloy steel SA 387 Gr.11 CL2 -

Does code allow 12 hour simulated PWHT instead of an 8 Hour.. same holding temperature i.e 690 C - if values after simulation at 12 hours strongly qualify for 387 gr11 cl2.

Alternatively we test material in a lab but i want to avoid the time waste..any provisions in the code for this ?

regards

According to Sect.V in case of impact testing, the soaking time of PWHT of the PQR shall be not less than 80% of the time of the WPS. So your 12 hrs PWHT qualifies for PWHT up to 15 hours. While 8 hours qualifies for PWHT up to 10 hours.
Practically a longer simulated PWHT of PQR specimens is alway acceptable.

Maybe I should clarify....Which Construction Code of the ASME BPVC are you two talking about?

so i need a way to qualify simulations at 2 and 12 hours of PWHT for simulations at 2.5 and 8 hours as well.

the 12 hour cycle we had assumed would take care of 8 hours -- but overlooked 2.5 hours..or would have ordered 2.5 and 12 Hour PWHT's.

Is there a way for the results after PWHT of 2 hours to be qualified for 2.5 hours...we can test these but cant afford delays.
