Dear Reader

Can anyone explain the following statement in QW-403.5
"........ When base metals of two different P-Number Group Number combinations are qualified using a single test coupon, that coupon qualifies the welding of those two P-Number Group Numbers to themselves as well as to each other using the variables qualified"
Can Anyone kindly inform me that whether my perception was correct.

In my company we qualified a procedure for an Unlisted material S275Jr with ASTM A36.
Then as per QW-403.5 the procedure is also qualified for the welding of the following material ASTMA36 to ASTM A36 as far as the remaining variables are constant.

Can anyone advise.

Thanks & Regards
Azar

Your procedure is not qualified to weld b/w A-36 to A-36.See Qw-403.11 that further refers to QW-424.
(SA-275Jr is unassigned metal and A-36 is assigned metal with P#1.so you made PQR by using an unassigned metal to an assigned metal).

QW-403.5成立的前提是母材都属于ASME材料。所以你所说的材料不能按此条推出。
If you want apply to QW-403.5,firstly,your base metals should be the assigned metal. Now,one of the base metal is a unassigned metal,so you can't do it like QW-403.5.
