Friends,

One nozzle on shell which is located very near to weld line of shell to dished end such that distance between the fillet of nozzle and weld line is very very less...

My question is :
Should we consider the reinforcement available in shell eventhough there is no sufficient shell portion available near nozzle at weld line side and after SF there is curvature of the dish?

I dont think so that ASME Code addresses this issue...

Please share your experiences...

It doesn't matter if the RF is very close or on the circ.weld. If there is the head curvature, in my opinion the RF may be properly shaped and welded onto part of the head.

Gonzaga,

Thanks for your reply.

But in my case dished end is of 8 mm nominal thickness and shell is 16 mm thickness due to external loadings. So I thinkg RF consideration criteria will be based on access thickness available in dished end on each side. Is it?

Also How about discontinuoty stresses due to great difference between shell & dished end thicknesses?

For external loading compensation may be obtained in any othe method e.g. ribs. The code has no specific rule.
