Hello!

To the best of my knowledge SA 181 material was discontinued. SA 105 is used instead of SA 181. But to my surprise, I came across a Manufacturer's Data Report from a ASME U stamp holder, which was fabricating Air Surge Tanks. These tank are mass produced.

The material used for the threaded nozzles (i.e. couplings) is SA-181-70. Firstly, ASME B16.11 does not list SA 181 in referenced standards (shown in Mandatory Appendix II).

Secondly the thickness of the nozzles is mentioned as 1500#. This again is baffling.

Thanks a lot. Have a nice day.

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks.

That means that the small fittings are designed and manufactured invoking UG-11 as per manufacturer's standard.

Hello!

While using fittings made as per Manufacturer's standard (for eg. Cl 1500 threaded fittings in this case), I believe there are other issues as well. For example, getting safety valves to meate with these fittings and then getting spares for these fittings.

Regards,
