Dear all.

Sect.II/A, SA-480 specifies the following for number of tests:
16.1.2 In the case of plate, sheet, or strip produced
in cut lengths, one tension test; two tension tests if the
material is temper rolled (one tension test for single piece
lots); one bend test when required, and one or more hardness
tests shall be made on each 100 or less pieces of
the same heat and nominal thickness rolled separately or
continuously and heat treated within the same operating
period, either as a lot or continuously.

The use of the several ; confuses me. May be because my English doesn't reach the high level required by such an "industrial poetry".
I have to confess, I understand better the speech of Ciceron than this paragraph. Can anybody write it in "basic English" ?
Thanks.
Mauro

Let me try my hand at this.....a "lot" is similar to a "heat" and may be one or may be more than one piece.

For single piece lots (individual):
One tension test is required for each plate, sheet or strip produced in a single piece lot.
One tension test is required for each temper rolled plate, sheet or strip produced in a single piece lot.

For other than single piece lots (bundled) and not temper rolled:
One tension test is required for plate, sheet or strip produced in a multiple lot/bundle.

For other than single piece lots (bundled) and temper rolled:
Two tension tests are required for plate, sheet or strip produced in a multiple lot/bundle.

The following applies to all the above.
One bend test (when required) and one hardness test is required for each lot that is less than 100 pieces,(either rolled separately or continuously) provided the tests are from the same heat, nominal thickness and heat treatment.

Does this make sense?
