Dear All,
Please suggest me the best material for Sour and acidic service ( H2S +CO2 +H2O ) in shell and tube Heat Exchanger on tube side.According to NACE MR 0175 , Sulphide stress cracking(SSC) and HIC Resistance,can i use tubes of material like SS 304 ,SS304L,SS316,SS316L etc.????

Process Conditions are as given below;
Temperature = 120 C
Pressure = 15 Psi
Tubside Fluid = Sour and acidic service ( H2S +CO2 +H2O )
Shell side = Chloride excess Water

Thanks

Deep, material selection is not very straight forward. It depends on various factors such as composition of process fluid including composition of all the components (H2S/ C02, Cl etc), temperature and even pressure.
Material selection also depends on corrosion rate and finally cost.

Both SS and CS may or may not be suitable based on operating temperature. As per NACE MR 01 75 if SS is not suitable is temperature is >60 Deg C beyond a certain level of chloride content in process fluid.
