Dear All

A Shell of (40mm thk) & a head of (20mm thk) (2:1 elliptical) can be joined as per UW-9 & Fig UW 13.1 by adding additional weld material in heads??

A difference in thickness of 20mm is acceptable or not? is there any limitations?

Please advise.

Regards
Vgsh

Dear Sir,

1) You will be providing welding detail as per Fig.UW-13.1 (j).

2) the difference between 2 centerlines must be less than 10mm as mentioned in the fig.UW-13.1 (j) (you have dish thk: 20mm and shell thk : 40mm)

3) Also please refer Table UW-33 for alignment tolreance. In your case it is 5mm. ???

4) I dont know regarding any limitation.
Hope this helps.

Regards

Dear Mr ASD23789

Yes i am referring Fig. UW-13.1(j).
I think no where it saying about the limitations. Also as per UW-13 b (3), weld material can be added to thinner part.

Thanks for your effort
