Dear all,
The boiler proper and boiler external piping were fabricated (not including assembly) by a same "A" stamp manufacturer. so what kind of data report is required ? only Form P3 is enough ?
for stamping of pressure piping should following PG-109 by boiler manufacturer, when this boiler is field-assembly(such as welding BEP to boiler proper) by another company, the boiler manufacturer and field-assembly worker they are all required stamped their code stamps on it ??

thanks!

zoecool,

I think your Authorized Inspector (AI) or your Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA) can answer and help you for the required Code Data Report

Zoecool,

This sounds strange. But without knowing the complete picture, I can not give a definite opinion.

Please note that every boíler shall have at least one Master S-Stamp. That goes with a Master MDR, P-3 usually.
An A-stampholder can not take over design responsibility, consequently can not certify the complete boiler.
This aspect of your story is not in line with the Code.

Your AI should be able to tell if he can accept the planned stamping.

Dear sir:
sorry for my bad english to make you confuse~~
Question is :
The boiler proper and boiler external piping(BEP) were fabricated by a same "S" stamp manufacturer. so what kind of data report is required ? see following info. Form P3 and Form P4A is not applicable.
Interpretation: I-80-18
Do the rules of Section I, PG-104, require that Boiler External Piping within the scope of Section I and supplied by the boiler Manufacturer, be specifically documented on a P-3 Data Report?
Reply: No. The ASME P-3 Data Report Form contains (in Item 11) spaces to record the number, size, and type of nozzle or outlet for four categories of connection to the boiler. These are:
(1) steam
(2) safety valve
(3) blowoff
(4) feed
Form P-4A, Manufacturer’s Data Report for Fabricated Piping, shall be used to record all shop or field-welded boiler external piping that falls within the scope of this Section but is not furnished by the boiler Manufacturer.

thanks!

zoecool,

The bottom line is up to your AI. Asked him. I can render my opinion or anybody can advice you but it is up to your AI decision. He is the one who will sign the ASME Code Data Report.
If your AI ain't happy nobody is happy.

Good luck.

Leem,

wise words, I fully agree. And if the AI doesn't know, ask the AIS, and if he doesn't know, change the AIA!
