Dear All,
I am designing a vessel, in which internal design pressure is 24.2 kgf/cm2, external design pressure is full vaccum (1.055 kgf/cm2), And internal & external design temperature is 120 deg. celcius.
Now in mechanical datasheet, it is mentioned that "Vessel shall be design for steam out condition. : FV + 3.5 kgf/cm2 @ 170 deg celcius".

So can anyone explain me what should be external & internal design pressure to design for steam out condition?
Do i have to consider external pressure of 1.055+3.5=4.555 kgf/cm2 ?

Makarand,

Hope you are not missing any thing. Are design conditions specified for steam out conditions FV + 3.5 kgf/ cm2 @ 170 Deg C or FV/ +3.5 kgf/ cm2 @ 170 Deg C??

If FV/ + 3.5 kgf/ cm2 is correct you need to design with 3.5 kg/ cm2 (Internal Pressure)@ 170 Deg C and FV @ 170 Deg C for steam out case.

Regards
