Dear specialists,

with regard to stud welding, our PQR test didn't use the sheilding gas, just using ferrule. And the test results is acceptable. Do you think it is ok?

For stud welding, gas is an essential variable:QW-408 Gas, paragraph .2 "Change" Single, mixture, or%.

What does this exactly mean?
Gas must be used while we can select one of "Single, mixture, or %"?
Or, it is ok not using gas shielding when conducting a PQR test for Stud welding?

Thanks!

Allen,
You would only need to requalify your PQR if you changed your type or composition of shielding gas or if you added / deleted a shielding gas.
As you qualified your PQR without shielding gas QW 408.2 is not applicable in your situation,
Regards,
BB
