Hello,Gentles,
There are two companys, both are "U" stamp holders, company A subcontracted a U type heat exchanger to company B, most of construction work was done by B excluding the final closure welding and pressure test, now A plans to issue U-1 form, and require B of U-2, the item shall be NB registered, i want to know if such case can be accepted by NB?
thanks!

Fred,
I guess U-2(h) might help you in this case:

Code:
(2) The Manufacturer of parts of a vessel to be completed
in the field by some other party stamps these parts
in accordance with Code rules and supplies the Form U-
2 or U-2A Manufacturer’s Partial Data Report to the other
party. The other party, who must hold a valid U Certificate
of Authorization, makes the final assembly, required NDE,
final pressure test; completes the Form U-1 or U-1A Manufacturer’s
Data Report; and stamps the vessel.

If NB registration is required the Form U-1 with attached the PARTIAL MDR Form U-2 shall be sent to NB for registration. Some Users, usually requiring parts for revamping use to require U-2 to be registered with NB as well. It can be done.

It happens that also Manufacturers require the U-2 Form for parts ordered to subcontractor stampholder registered with NB. Then they attach it to their U-1 and send all for registration to NB. Acceptable
