 Post subject: Support for Horizontally tanks

Dear all

I have a Horizontally tank, without internal pressure. it have two supports. when leaktest by water may be the tank will distortion. i want to check this problem. can you show me the information for calculatate them.

You will need to consider the weight of the liquid at temperature. For example water @ 70F = 0.434#/cu in

If the vessel was not designed to be filled with water there is no reason to design it only for the test. Test it pneumatically at a pressure 1.1 the pressure you designed it. If it is for no pressure and the test has only the sope to verify welds are tight, then apply a low pressure e.g. 1 mt water column. To avoid overpressure in parallel with the pipe carrying air into the tank, provide a hose immerged in 1 meter of water. When the pressure of 1 mt water column is exceeded the air will bubble out from the hose immersed.
