Dear,

We have other problems in the progress of making hard-surfacing overlap by welding for a notch of big Pulley. Its material classification is C45-E according to EN-10083-2. Now we are using E-8018 and TWH-58-G (only for the last welding layer, see its composition in file attached) electrodes to repair defect like cracks. Afterward UT, PT test can not detect any defects else as well as any indication. But MT gives many clear indications around fusion line (see pictures attached). and actually after gouging it at 20mm depth, we saw longer and bigger cracks inside than before (see pics attached). And now we really need to know what is happening to ours work:!:

thank you

I know this is an old post but was wondering if you had solved your problem?

My Q is were you maintaining your preheat of 572 degrees F while welding with the TWH-58-G is a flux-cored wire? And then slowly cooled?
